Join me on Saturday 24th January 2026 for a full-day Giant Crepe Paper Poppy Workshop in York, where you’ll learn how to create a bold, statement paper flower using premium crepe paper. This hands-on workshop is perfect if you’re curious about large-scale paper flowers or want to build strong foundations in crepe paper flower making.

You’ll be guided step by step through the process of creating one large crepe paper poppy head on a short stem, learning techniques that can be applied to both large and small paper flowers. Poppies are a fantastic starting point for understanding structure, scale, and movement.

During the workshop, you’ll learn essential techniques including shaping and layering oversized petals, adding realistic texture through stretching and curling, and how to bring depth and life to crepe paper flowers. I’ll also provide a selection of colourful Italian crepe paper & some hand-dyed crepe papers, so you can choose the colour of poppy you’d like to create.

The workshop takes place in a relaxed, friendly setting at Lola’s home in the heart of York, offering a calm and creative environment with plenty of personal guidance throughout the day. All materials and tools are provided—you just need to enjoy the process.

This class is suitable for all skill levels, from beginners (with guidance) to experienced crafters, and is ideal for anyone wanting to gain confidence working on larger paper flower projects.

Lunch

There will be a 45-minute lunch break. Please feel free to bring your own lunch or alternatively there is a small cafe at the end of our road or Sainsbury's Local within 100m of the house. Bishy Road is also within 10 minutes walk and has a Deli called The Good Food Shop. 

Refreshments

Tea, coffee, water, and light refreshments will be provided throughout the day.

Parking

Please note there are parking restrictions on our road (residents only). 
The nearest public car park is Nunnery Lane Car Park (YO23 1AA), which is just a short walk away and also offers car charging facilities.

Getting Here by Train

Lola’s home is located in the city of York and is approximately:

• 10 minute walk from York train station

• Or a 5 minute taxi ride

What should I bring?

All materials and tools are provided. Please just bring your lunch and anything you like to drink beyond the refreshments provided.

Is this workshop suitable for beginners?

Yes. The workshop is suitable for beginners (with guidance) through to experienced crafters, and is designed to build confidence working with larger-scale paper flowers.

Accessibility

Please note that there are three steps at the entrance to the house. Once inside, all workshop activities take place on the ground floor, and the bathroom is also located downstairs.

Pets

Please note that no pets are allowed to attend the workshop.
There is a small French bulldog living in the house. He is 14 years old, blind and deaf, and very friendly, and may be present during the day.

Cancellations

Cancellations more than 14 days before the workshop will receive a full refund.
Cancellations 7–13 days before will receive a 50% refund or credit.
Cancellations within 7 days are non-refundable, but tickets may be transferred.
If we cancel the workshop, a full refund or rebooking option will be offered.
